And What Should Artists Do?
Welcome to the Soundromeda Community

Music & AI
AI continues to penetrate every facet of our lives, but many of us in the arts were not expecting the robot takeover to be so quick to tackle the creative, seemingly at first. Photos, videos, and now music have been affected so swiftly. Gradually, then, all of a sudden. AI development has been in the works for decades, but the reality is that we reached an inflection point, where GPU power and data converge into app-centric end-user tools. The knee-jerk reaction for an artist is to protect oneâs artistic vision, a perspective that often takes a lifetime to cultivate. And when your peers raise their pitchforks in opposition to change, youâd naturally do the same
(From the Soundromeda V1 White Paper I wrote two years ago (before Chat lol) in June 2022, unreleased):
âToday's process for the music artist dilutes emphasis on the actual art. Continuing down this path presents a mixture of "lazy Al*: a "black mirror" where artist A&R is driven by AI, music creation is AI-generated, and music artists are entirely virtual characters. Upon reading the aforementioned statements, you might presume that I'm painting a picture against AI. Not at all. It's the usage of such intelligence that can be wielded in every direction, good or bad. I believe we are at a major fork in the road with art and entertainment that needs steering: We must balance out the pomp and circumstance of the digital realm with the substantive depth that real music artists provide. We intend to utilize Al as a tool to expand on music artistsâ creativity, which will expand music entertainment into experiences we have yet to see. Expanding into new possibilities for artists to be creative is empowering for the artist. Society depends on artistry to catalyze a greater perspective, evolving humanity. Ultimately, when you empower music artists, you are igniting social change because music artists are at the center of humans and what they're feeling.â
Human cultural value is defined through art. Looking back hundreds or thousands of years into the past, itâs often all we have left of us to represent who we were. Looking into the future, the human<>art value component will remain, but our tools and medium will evolve. After all, if it were perpetually the same, wouldnât that get boring? This is an opportunity to expand your toolset as an artist. Utilize AI. Improve your workflow. Help speed up ideation into finished works. Mend your weak points (all of us artists have them), AI can help there. Have it be your imaginary writing partner. Duplicate your creative self and train your own AI model with all of your music, and have your writing buddy be an extension of yourself! As a true creative, you have nothing to fear except change. So, best embrace it and evolve into your higher potential (Steve Aoki Has No Problem Using Artificial Intelligence To Build Tracks: âYou Canât Stop AI⊠You Just Have To Ride The Waveâ).
This doesnât mean artists should stand down on their music being ripped and exploited into derivative works through whatever means necessary by Big Tech or whoever. However, all art is created by artists whoâre inspired by their favorite artists. So where is the line? No artist should ever feel exploited, and we need to fix that. Generative AI is just one type of AI. But if you are a true creative, you have nothing to worry about in the long run - create fresh. Empower yourself as the creative that you are. In the near future, where 75% (or 100%) of jobs as we know it will shift due to AI, the best move now is to build your skillset with AI. Time to level up. As I am a true artist-founder, weâre empowering artistic voices through Soundromeda by giving artists new tools to share their artistic vision. - Brayden Pierce, Founder/CEO of Soundromeda

"I would rather write ten imperfect pieces of music than no beautiful music at all." - Leonard Bernstein
